In 2008, Nick Berardini was a senior journalism major at the University of Missouri, working the night shift at a local TV station. Responding to a situation on the station’s police scanner, he became the first reporter on the scene of an in-custody death in Moberly, MO. What began for Berardini as a story about a TASER-related death in a small town grew over the course of six years into Killing Them Safely, an investigative documentary about the TASER corporation and its products. Killing Them Safely debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2015 and will be distributed by Sundance Selects. It is Berardini’s first film.
