Luke Lorentzen, 2026

At the edge of a remote Maine harbor, the craftspeople of Brooklin Boat Yard practice an increasingly rare art, shaping Douglas fir, mahogany, and cedar into some of the world’s most coveted wooden vessels. Over four seasons, Sundance award-winning director Luke Lorentzen follows the painstaking construction of a 56-foot sailboat, capturing the precision, patience, and pride that bind the yard’s 60-some workers and their close-knit community. The result is a quietly absorbing meditation on craft and the meaning we create through sustained devotion to a place and a practice, culminating in the vessel’s breathtaking maiden voyage.
