Rachael J. Morrison, 2026

The remarkable story of Joe Engressia (aka Joybubbles), who discovered at a young age that he could manipulate the telephone network simply by whistling the right frequency. Born blind, he discovered that the telephone could open onto a world far beyond his own. His ingenuity and fascination with its hidden possibilities helped launch the “phone phreak” subculture that would influence a generation of hackers and technology pioneers. Told through archival materials, animation, and Joybubbles’ own recordings, the film is also a moving story about disability, independence, play, and a lifelong search for human connection.
