Eva Knopf, 2013 (German, with English Subtitles)

The essayistic documentary Majubs's Journey tells the story of an African man who lived in Nazi Germany during the 1930s and worked as an extra in the movie industry. He was born in the colony German East Africa and became a soldier for the Germans during World War I - when he was only nine years old. About a decade later he decides to travel to Germany. This is a biography and a film about the roles in which society casts us. (45 minutes)

Screening with SHCHEDRYK (Kalli Paakspuu, 2014)
An experimental film tribute to Ukranian composer Mykola Leontovych whose music played a powerful role in generating nationalism in the Ukrainian community and also led to his untimely death. SHCHEDRYK is designed to pulsate with the centuries long resistance of Ukrainians to colonization. Features jazz artist Paul Hoffert in a piano improvisation of the song named, 'Shchedryk'. (5 minutes)
